Between September 2008 & November 2009, 14 months, I lost 179 pounds. Here is a link to my weight loss statistics that I update weekly.
http://mcdougallstats.wordpress.com/ Most of that time I was following the MWL plan. My favorite MLW recipes can be found on my recipe blog here.
http://mwlfood.wordpress.com/ When my rate of weight loss started to slow down this fall I started Mary’s Mini, a more restricted version of the McDougall Plan. I’ve been doing that for about 6 weeks now. I just eat rice topped with soy sauce and Tabasco, lettuce topped with 3-2-1 dressing (recipe on my blog) and a raw apple each day. I eat 4 meals per day at 8am, noon, 4pm, & 8pm. Plus I have an apple at 6pm. My meals have approximately 1 cup of organic brown jasmine rice and 2 cups of organic lettuce. No other food. I drink water, unsweetened herb tea, and Schweppes club soda (zero calorie carbonated water). I plan to keep doing Mary’s Mini for the foreseeable future.
I still have 193.6 pounds to lose and I have some mobility issues that make it hard for me to exercise although I do hope that will change over the next year.
I attribute my success so far to 100% adherence to the McDougall MWL plan. No exceptions. No cheating at all. I was motivated to stick to the plan by a painful knee injury in July 2008. I plan to stick to the McDougall plan for the rest of my life. After I reach my goal weight, I’ll probably add more variety to my diet and perhaps even some regular plan food items like bread/pasta/tofu/avocados.
